Support

Sen. Carl Levin, who chairs the Armed Services Committee, said Democratic senators would probably seek to capitalize on wavering Republicans to limit the "wide-open authorization" congress gave Bush in 2002.

"We will be looking at a modification of that authorization in order to limit the mission of American troops to a support mission instead of a combat mission, and that is very different from cutting off funds," said Levin, D-Mich.

The longer this Bush-Cheney jingoistic bullshit continues to squander our national and diplomatic resources, the more likely this country will need a support mission. Wake up America -- this is not a game. These assholes are trashing your future with their hubristic greed and wanton warmongering. And what do they care, as long as their personal fortunes support their drunken duck hunting? The rest of us can just go eat cake.

These notions could be viewed as naive and simplistic, even juvenile or inflammatory. But when you hear the president justify his war in Iraq, you'd have to agree that his notions are every bit as naive and simplistic, juvenile and inflammatory, as any foreign policy articulated since Teddy Roosevelt. And now that Rice has burned most of our bushes over there, Saudi Prince Bandar, of all people, once again is running around Washington, D.C. and the Middle East, as if he were Bush's secretary of state, trying to get people together on this thing. Meanwhile, Al Qaeda is reorganizing in Afghanistan, and our troops in Baghdad don't even know who's shooting at them.
